Chef Kuriyal is an Inspiration for our youth in Uttrakhand

His journey is incredible, from the mountains of Uttarakhand to United States of America.

Chef Vikas Kuriyal, resident of Dehradun, Uttarakhand, has been working in the United States for the last 2 years where he is promoting Indian healthy cuisine. Chef Kuriyal currently works at Mehfil Restaurant in Asheville, North Carolina United States of America . The Indian restaurant Mehfil where he works has also received the awards for Best Indian Cuisine and all rounder restaurant.

Chef Vikas Kuriyal is a certified Master Chef specialized in culinary arts. His contribution is extraordinary in the Indian specialty cuisines for the customers. His culinary talent is original, ambitious and innovative. He invested in creating specialty dishes that are both intricate and simple, traditional and progressive. He have judged the Young Chef Olympiad organized by the International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) in the year 2017 in 50 countries.

The significant recognition in the international culinary field makes his contribution important and unique. He is the second member in India being awarded membership by the World Master Chef Society. The World Master Chefs Society is a leading and distinguished professional association headquartered in the United Kingdom. The World Master Chef’s exclusive membership boasts only 350 World Master Chefs from countries all over the world. He has also served as a judge in the cooking television show on a well-known television network, UCN in India. UCN is central India’s largest digital cable network.

It’s his journey from Tehri to America with a salary package from 4 thousand to 4 lakhs. Many aspiring chefs find his journey inspirational for their career growth and guidance.

Today, thousands of youth with roots from Uttarakhand are hoisting their flag all over the world by joining the hotel industry. These youth of Uttarakhand, who are working in hotels, have created a different identity for themselves on the basis of their hard work and strength. This is the reason that today about 60 to 70% of the youth of Uttarakhand belong to the hotel industry. He also belong among one of those youths from Uttarakhand gaining fame. I have made my own identity not only in the country but all over the world.He is the one and only Master Chef of Uttarakhand recognized by the name- Master Chef Vikas Kuriyal. He is not dependent on anyone’s identity in the world today. Today, he is hoisting our flag all over the world with my profession and skills famed as World Master Chef Vikas Kuriyal. He has so far visited about 12 to 15 countries, and has also worked in many different states of India.

His journey to reach this point and destination was not that easy, but behind this, it’s his day and night hard work, dedication and passion to work.

He was born in the village Sukri Thapla, Pratapnagar and did his schooling from the primary school of the village. He was the only youngest brother in the family of six siblings. After the death of his father at a very young age, all the responsibilities of the house came onto his shoulders to fulfill his responsibilities, he left for a hotel job after completing high school. He first went to Chandigarh and did small jobs there in the hotel. He started as a helper to wash dishes. Slowly He started understanding the working of the hotel industry. Along with work, he also continued studies and completed 11th and 12th standard through a private board. After that he pursued Hotel Management from Maurya Institute, Dehradun in the year 2002. Further, he moved to Pune for the job purpose. After this, as if the dreams of development got wings and he started working hard with all his heart. The journey of development started from Chandigarh and reached Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Goa, Bengaluru and many other cities of the country. As Chef Vikas Kuriyal mastered the hotel’s functions. His experiences were also adding up. After working in different cities of India, He first went to Malaysia to work abroad. Later, he worked in cities like France, Germany & Thailand. It was the result of his hard work that in the year 2000, from a small dhaba in Punjab he was able to work in all the renowned five-star hotels of the world and achieved the title of Master Chef. Also, he has served in 40 countries of the world. After becoming a master chef, today he is associated with many hotel brands in India and abroad and am also engaged in promoting our Indian ‘Pahadi’ food globally.

His dream to tour & start 3-4 restaurants in America. During this tour, he will try his best to invite the newly elected President of America, Joe Biden, to taste our mountain cuisine which is organic and healthy.
